The elf, Anirnis, was about to reply to the druid's friendly greeting, but was cut off by the pompous firecracker that was the mercenary. Shrugging it off as some hyper aggressive freak on her period, he turned his attention back to the podium. Better to ignore the unpious heathen, lest she feed off the attention she was given. If no one paid attention to her, she would leave them be in peace, wouldn't she?
Though if she insisted on using this festive time and hallowed ground to pick a fight, she would get more than her fare share. And if she happened to be seriously hurt...well, it was her own fault, wasn't it? He'd heal her...for a price. And donate half to the new chapel.

Father Zantus frustratingly eyes the four who were making such noise before, continuing, using a thunderstone to quiet the crowd once again. A sharp retort, like the crack of distant thunder, slices through the excited crowd as the sun’s setting rays paint the western sky. A stray dog that has crawled under a nearby wagon to sleep starts awake, and the buzz of two dozen conversations quickly hushes as all heads turn toward the central podium, where a beaming Father Zantus has taken the stage.
He clears his throat, takes a breath to speak, and suddenly a woman’s scream slices through the air. A few moments later, another scream rises, then another. Beyond them, a sudden surge of strange new voices rises—high-pitched, tittering shrieks that sound not quite human. The crowd parts and something low to the ground races by, giggling with disturbing glee as the stray dog gives a pained yelp and then collapses with a gurgle, its throat cut open from ear to ear. As blood pools around its head, the raucous sound of a strange song begins, chanted from shrill, scratchy voices.
Elkin, Aislinn, and Anirnis all recognize the shape as a goblin, a creature most foul. It now stands by the wagon next to two others, licking the blood off of its dogslicer as it looks excitedly at the crowd, seeking out a new target. Elkin, Aislinn, and Anirnis have noticed the goblins and can participate in a surprise round, while Kain and Saya must wait for the surprise round to end. Elkin: HITAislinn: HITAnirnis: HIT

The screams draw a surprised look from Anirnis. He turns to look at what was causing the commotion, and the site of the dieing mutt, complete with the trio of goblins, changed his look from one of shock to one of disgust, complete with a scrunched up nose. It would be best to finish the wretched creatures off quickly, so that the festival could resume.
The cleric drew his scimtar and approached the goblins. There was no need to interrupt his diety's enjoyment with the celebration over new chapel by asking for her help in disposing of the scum defiling the fair ground. No, this was something he and his scimtar could handle.
Determined to kill as quickly as possible, he brought his scimtar back and aimed it at the neck of the goblin holding the dogslicer. Better to take care of the one that was obviously armed. It would be bothersome to have to heal a wound caused by being careless against a dinner knife.

Aislinn shot a sharp glance at the goblins, mentally splitting them in two. The sun almost reflected off the annoyance in her eyes; curse these creatures for interrupting a time such as this.
She brought her hand out forward and it began to glow with a soft white aura. She focused down her sights on an unarmed goblin, careful not to hit the aggressive cleric. To finish the spell, she moved her arm in an elegant shape then shot it out straight forward.
A ray of frost jumped from the her hand and sped towards the goblin's chest in a white blur. It wouldn't be able to live if it's heart was frozen solid.

Alarmed by the suddenness of the goblin's presence, Elkin cautiously creeps closer towards them, keeping an eye on the others. He rapidly thinks about what attacks should force the goblins to dissipate.
He quickly comes to the realization that his best offensive option would be to use his burning hands. His hands seamlessly ignite into bright orange and yellow flames. Shortly after, they shoot out, grazing the many structures within the square. However, he realizes that success has yet to be determined due to the fact that the goblins remain hidden.

--- DAMAGE RESULTS --- Anirnis:The scimitar hurtles towards the goblin's neck, though the goblin thrusts the dogslicer quickly upwards to deflect the attack. Not to say that it didn't hit. The scimitar bites downwards instead, cutting deeply into the goblin's shoulder, severing the right arm holding the weapon right off. Goblin1 takes 4 HP damage, and is left with 1 HP left. Aislinn:The magical beam of ice careens towards the goblin and hits the unsuspecting creature in a full frontal assault. The goblin flies backwards crashing into the wagon, buried under several broken wooden boards, with a thick layer of hoarfrost covering the monster's green warty skin. Goblin2 takes 3 HP damage, and is left with 2 HP left. Elkin:The other combatants jump out of the way as Elkin's hands begin to glow a fiery hue, and shield their eyes as a burst of cone shaped flame expands from the small gnome's hands, horribly burning all three of the closely knit goblins. Goblin1, Goblin2, and Goblin3 all take 2 HP damage, Goblin1 and Goblin2 are killed, and Goblin3 is left with 3 HP left. The goblin whose arm was cut off shrieks as the flames encompass its body, magical flames eating away until there is nothing left but a pile of smoldering ash on the ground. The wagon bursts into flames as the goblin inside cries out madly while the fire melts the magical ice and destroys the creature inside, leaving a smoking hump of blackened flesh and wood in its place. The last goblin faces the five attackers with a determined look on its face. Its body has been heavily charred by the flame spell but it is still up and moving, fists clenching and unclenching as it looks around for a target. --- ENEMY TURN --- The foolish creature rushes Saya, deciding the imposing woman looked to be the biggest threat and needs to be get rid of quickly. As the goblin's sharp claw descends, Saya nimbly sidestepps out of harm's way, so that the Goblin tumbles to the ground, missing the half-elf completely. Saya takes 0 HP damage. --- STATS --- Elkin - 10 HP left Kain - 13 HP left Saya - 15 HP left Aislinn - 9 HP left Anirnis - 12 HP left
Goblin3 - 3 HP left --- ALLIED TURN --- By now, all the other commoners have fled the square, leaving the five alone with the goblin and burning wagon. Screams can be heard all across Sandpoint, the festival utterly forgotten in the ensuing chaos. The goblin looks like it could be taken down in only one or two more blows, the burns on its skin are quite bad. Elkin - MISS Kain - HIT Saya - HIT Aislinn - MISS Anirnis - HIT

Saya smiles at the dumb creature. Happy that fortune led this miserable creature to her to kill, she draws her shortsword.
With a devilish grin, she slashes down towards the unlucky creature's back.

The sorceress began to wander off, looking in the shadows and alleyways for more goblins. The one by the wagon, she figured, should be left for dead after Saya was through with it. But what of the loot? What much could these creatures have, some now-charred coins? Aislinn decided against checking the rotting bodies.
Gods, please forgive the spillage of blood I am about to commit and cleanse this tainted soil of evil.

Anirnis gave a half smile as he took of the creature's weapon arm, but missed giving it a fatal strike. The worst it could do now to him was bit his ankle, or bleed on him or something. The gnome's attack surprised him a little, simply by the sudden warmth radiating from it. He watched long enough only to make sure that the goblins were more or less figured off.
And he knew, where there was one or two or more, there would be alot more. He sighed inwardly, a sad and heavy expression on his face, as he left the smoldering wagon in search of more of the rotten defilers. Muttering a pray under her breath that the villagers could at least stay out of harm's way, he left the other four and headed toward the nearest screams.

Surprised by his success, Elkin decides to follow Aislinn. Elkin no longer sees the goblin as a threat, and thinks that he will be crushed in the next moments. "Aislinn, where are we going?"

--- DAMAGE RESULTS --- Saya:The bold fighter's sword darts forward for the killing strike, and right before the point of impact, the creature turns around. The sword pierces through the small monster's leather armor and into the slimy chest, abruptly ending its life. Goblin3 takes 4 HP damage, and is killed. --- VICTORY --- Elkin gains 35 experience points. 1,965 to Level 2. Kain gains 35 experience points. 1,965 to Level 2. Anirnis gains 35 experience points. 1,965 to Level 2. Aislinn gains 35 experience points. 1,965 to Level 2. Saya gains 35 experience points. 1,965 to Level 2.
--- STATS --- Elkin - 10 HP left Kain - 13 HP left Saya - 15 HP left Aislinn - 9 HP left Anirnis - 12 HP left As the last goblin falls, the sounds surrounding the five combatants seem to increase in volume as the battle ends. Goblins race everywhere, running amok, singing and slashing indiscriminately at the fleeing commoners. A sudden bloom of fire south of the festival grounds grabs their attention, and Saya, Kain, Anirnis, Aislinn, and Elkin rush hurredly towards the newest imminent threat to Sandpoint. As the ragtag group of protectors reach the place where the explosion of flame had rocketed into the sky just sceonds ago, they see that a group of goblins had found a cart full of fuel for the a ceremonial bonfire that was to be lit near the festival grounds. The source of the fire is now just a large scorch mark and a few burning boards lying on the ground. The group of goblins whirl around to see the five, and they shriek in delight and attack, riding a high from raiding the small town. No doubt the little monsters didn't see their dead companions just fifty feet away and around a corner. This time around, there are five of the wicked looking creatures, four them armed with dogslicers and torches. One goblin stays back, armed with a whip and a dogslicer, while chanting in a high, shrill voice. The song is crude and obviously goblin written, but still the song has an almost unearthly quality to it, revealing that it might be magical in nature. "Goblins chew and goblins bite. Goblins cut and goblins fight. Stab the dog and cut the horse, Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump. Goblins slash and goblins bump. Burn the skin and mash the head, Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup. Bonk the head to shut it up. Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed, We be goblins! You be food!" The singing goblin then repeats the song over again, and the goblins rush forward, their courage bolstered by the goblin bard's song. --- BATTLE --- Elkin, Kain, Saya, Aislinn, Anirnis VS. Excitment fills Saya's body. "Finally something interesting is happening." She says to herself as she raises her shortsword. Seeing the 4 incoming goblins, she runs towards the one in front, thrusting her sword out in front of her for a stab in its stomach.

Another disgusted look came from the elven cleric at the new group of goblins. He couldn't help but wonder now if some heathen or twisted worshiper of a darker deity was behind the carnage that had now ruined the festive celebration.
The putrid song coming from the chanter irritated him. Anirnis could fight through the four and then silence the chanter, but that would take too long for his taste. Sighing inwardly, he had no choice but to call upon his goddess for aid in shutting the goblin up.
Praying in a soft voice using his native tongue to Sarenrae, he aimed a Firebolt at the warchanter.

Flabbergasted by the goblin's sudden disappearance, Elkin hears a booming tune coming from the appearing opponents. Elkin quickly picks up his staff off of the ash pile at his feet and holds it horizontally against his chest, ready to attack.
Overcome by the shrill song of the goblin, Elkin runs towards the goblin with his staff at hand, hoping to provide some relief for himself and discomfit the opponent at the same time. He attempts to hit the goblin on it's head.

Aislinn's eyes grow wide at the goblins with their intimidating dogslicers and war chant. She immediately put a hand out in front of herself and thrust a foot backwards into the cobblestone ground for balance.
Her hand began to glow again with a green light accompanied by a greenish tint. In the palm of her hand a wavy green orb began to grow until it was the size of a ball of yarn. Aislinn drew her arm back before she sent the orb hurtling towards the lead dogslicer. Even though the attack missed by an inch, the goblin behind the lead took a sharp slap in the face as the acid splash started eating away at it's flesh.

Kain looks at the goblins in disgust for killing people. and ruining a great party where people wore having fun and all but what most ticked Kain off was that he didn't get any thing to eat yet and the festival was ruined.
as pissed of Kain was he prepared his Q-staff and ran up to one of the goblins and bashing him in the face with his staff yelling "this is for ruining the party before I got any thing to eat!!!"

--- RESULTS --- Saya:Finally finding something that is of interest to her, Saya darts quickly forward, lunging ferociously at the closest goblin. The thrust is aimed at the creature’s stomach, and luckily Saya’s agility with her blade is superior to the beast’s own reflexes. Ducking a swing from a flaming torch, the half-elf snaps her corded arm outwards, impaling the creature on her blade through its abdomen. The goblin shrieks in pain, the shocked expression on its features revealing that the little band of goblin raiders hadn’t previously met any resistance to their plunder. Goblin1 takes 5 HP damage, and is killed. Anirnis:One of the smarter goblins recognizes the clerical garb of the elf, and rushes forwards blindly, crying out in a shrill voice heavy with malice. Its high-pitched cry is drowned out by Anirnis’s own holy chant, the words smoothly flowing from his mouth. His voice takes a sharp increase in volume and intensity, and then the chant doesn’t sound so dreamy. The elf’s hand rises upwards and begins to glow orange, and suddenly a ball of fire erupts from his slender fingertips. The charging goblin slows and runs out of the way, while the flaming projectile continues further and slams into the warchanter, disrupting the song. The burned and blacked goblin is knocked to the ground, but slowly gets back up and though swaying in pain, continues the disturbing song. Goblin Warchanter takes 4 HP damage, and has 3 HP left. Elkin:The short-statured gnome hops and skips as he runs over to the goblin closest to him. Choosing not to rely on magic this time around, the wizard promptly swings his wooden staff down, aiming directly at the goblin’s cranium. Seeing the battle as just a big fun challenge, the gnome laughs as he smacks the equally tall creature on the head, causing stars to erupt in front of the goblin’s eyes. The small monster dizzily stumbles away from the gnome and trips over a blackened board on the ground. Watching the creature trip and fall, the mage claps with glee and laughs while exclaiming, “Did you see that? Did you see that?” Elkin’s cries are cut short as the goblin slowly stands back up, glaring angrily at the wizard. “Uh oh.” Goblin2 takes 3 HP damage, and has 2 HP left. Aislinn:After Aislinn prepares her acidic spell, the lead goblin notices the identity of the sorcerer’s move, and prepares to dodge. As the orb of sickly green acid flies through the air towards him, he ducks and the goblin behind him gets the worst of the blow. The liquid splashes across his face, eating away at the ugly features while the pitiful creature screams in fear. To the goblin’s horror, the magic liquid seems to gain momentum as it burns away flesh and bone, strips of gooey flesh falling to the ground in sick plops. Green slime begins to run down its torso and legs, the acid hungrily eating away at anything it touches. In just seconds, the opponent is reduces to a smoking puddle with a stench that is horrible to behold. CRITICAL, Goblin3 takes 9 HP damage, and is killed. Kain:Kain’s anger at the prospect of a ruined festival is surprising to behold, and the goblin that he aims to attack thinks just that. The little monster starts to run away, large flat feet flapping against the cobblestone road as it escapes from the furious druid. Though, it is a well-known fact that goblins are not known for their agility, and Kain quickly catches up. The goblin dives under a table filled with discarded plates of food for cover, and momentarily becomes distracted and takes a bite out of a delicious looking smoked ham. The sight of the goblin eating the villager’s food and the realization of how stupid these creatures are brings a twisted smile to the human’s face. Goblin completely oblivious to the danger fast approaching, Kain smashes his staff across at the monster’s face, causing it to topple off the table and give a shrill shriek of pain that is suddenly cut short with an unnerving crack. Goblin4 takes 6 HP damage, and is killed. --- ENEMY TURN --- The lone goblin fighter looks around at its killed comrades in shock and then glances quickly at the torch in its hand. It lobs the flaming hunk of wood at the one who had most recently killed a member of the raiding group. The druid turns around just in time to see the burning piece of wood fly towards his arm without his weapon, trying to move out of the way in time. The torch sails up past Kain but smashes into a banner that was promoting the now dead festival. The cloth catches fire instantly, the flames eating away at the apparently highly flammable banner. Looking up, Kain has only seconds to realize that the burning sign is falling down over him before it lands on him, smoothing the druid in a flaming heap of burning cloth. Kain takes 3 HP damage, and has 10 HP left. Smirking, Aislinn turns her attention from the enemy she had just utterly destroyed to the leader of the band of goblins. Almost instantly, she feels that the song has taken on a different pitch and tone than before. Unable to focus, the sorceress’s eyes stare blankly out in front of her as her hands fall limply by her sides. On some subconscious level she realizes that the others are not affected as she is, but her lips will not obey the commands made by her brain. Her mind completely clouding over, the last thing she sees it the warchanter smiling at her while singing the song before her thoughts are encompassed by a heavy gray fog. Aislinn has the spell Daze cast on her by the Goblin Warchanter, and she loses 1 turn of action. --- STATS --- Elkin - 10 HP left Kain - 10 HP left Saya - 15 HP left Aislinn - 9 HP left Anirnis - 12 HP left

Kain crawls out from under the burning banner sighing in relief that his alive he hears the annoying chant from the goblin.
as annoyed as he is from almost dieing he steps on the goblins neck he killed earlier and pulls off its head then lighting it on fire from the burning banner.
then aiming for the goblin chanting he throws the burning goblin head at the chanting goblin "SHUT UP ALREADY!"

Saya, seeing that the sorceress is dazed and cannot doing anything, decides to laugh at her for her uselessness and leave the other few goblins alone for the others to kill. "What'cha doing, sorceress? Not looking very smart right now. At least I killed two of them suckers." Knowing that she will probably be insulted back as soon as the sorceress was recovered, she walks to a dead body and starts fishing around for anything interesting in the corpe's pockets.
